How To Prevent Winter Pain & Weight Gain
Dec 20, 2022Throughout the winter, many people experience joint pain and weight gain. While there is not a single solution to this problem, there are a few things that you can do to help.
This article will discuss the best ways to prevent winter pain and weight gain and how to manage your nutrition and activity levels. By following these tips, you will be on your way to a less painful winter and a healthy weight!
Tip 1: Nutrition
One of the most significant contributors to winter pain and weight gain is processed and comfort foods. Make sure to eat a variety of lean proteins, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, healthy fats like avocados and olive oil are essential in your diet.
Tip 2: Move
Physical activity is another vital factor in preventing winter pain and weight gain. Try stretching, yoga, or walking at your local mall or fitness center.
Tip 3: Hydrate
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is essential for cushioning your joints and making muscles cramp-free. Make sure to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.
Tip 4: Get In A Hot Infrared Sauna
A hot infrared sauna can also be a great way to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and warm up if you can find these at local wellness centers and spas, and some are available for home use. If there is no sauna option near you, sitting in a full-size heated blanket for 20 minutes before you start your day could work.
Tip 5: Long Soak
Suppose you have a bathtub at your home. Try soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath. The magnesium in the salt improves muscle pain, the moist heat makes joint movements easier, and relaxation is vital to decrease stress.
